IAM Carbonzero’s CEO analyses on Cadena SER the role of biomethane as an opportunity for the territory, the recovery of agricultural and livestock waste, and the challenge of accelerating a rigorous and responsible energy transition.

IAM Carbonzero will take part next May 28 in CONVERSA 2026, the renewable energy and territorial future forum to be held in Valdelavilla (Soria), where the company will have a space dedicated to the role of rural Spain in the energy transition.

On the occasion of the event, José Marcos González Conejero, CEO of IAM Carbonzero, took part in an interview on Cadena SER Soria in which he addressed the potential of biomethane to drive rural development, improve the management of agricultural and livestock waste, and strengthen Spain’s energy independence.

During the conversation, the significant delay accumulated by Spain compared with other European countries in the development of this type of infrastructure was highlighted, despite the country’s enormous agri-food and livestock potential.

#Biomethane today represents a strategic opportunity for many rural areas: it makes it possible to transform agri-food waste into renewable energy, produce biofertilisers, and create economic activity linked to the territory.

At IAM Carbonzero, we maintain that this development must be carried out under the strictest technical, environmental and safety criteria. The European and Spanish regulations applicable to these facilities require compliance with extremely rigorous assessment processes, incorporating dozens of sectoral reports and the best available technologies to minimise impacts and ensure coexistence with the surrounding environment.

In a context where the public debate on energy and rural development generates diverse positions, we consider it essential to continue promoting spaces for dialogue, information and technical analysis. Consensus and agreements are essential to support rural development and energy and food independence.

For this reason, CONVERSA 2026 will be an important opportunity to share experiences, listen to the territory and debate the energy and industrial future of rural Spain.
